Texan Fertilizer Plant Explosion

At a fertilizer plant in West Texas has had a massive explosion, and than this resulted in a devastating fire to spread across the nearby town of about 2,600 residents. Approximately half of these people had to evacuate their houses, due to the fire, which was quickly spreading and destroying dozens of homes and other buildings. There has not yet been a definitive casualty count, and firefighters and other emergency personnel are still trying to help people and contain the blaze. Estimates are between five and fifteen, though it is very difficult to tell with the current situation. The mayor of the town said that “it was like a nuclear bomb… big old mushroom cloud.” Over 160 people were injured, varying in severity. The explosion was strong enough to measure as a 2.1 magnitude earthquake. This is a brutally devastating explosion in this town, and it will be hard for them to rebuild. However, they say that they are strong, and will be able to. “It’s not the end of the world.”

Personally, I am shocked about this incident.  I don’t understand how this actually happened – authorities are unsure about what caused this, which kind of put me on edge. I don’t know if it was an accident or not. I really hope that the firefighters are capable of containing this huge fire, and that people are able to eventually get back to where they weer before this incident occurred.

Boston Massacre 2.0

On Monday, April 15th, at around 3:00 in the afternoon, several IED’s were detonated during the Boston Marathon. Over 170 people were injured, and 3 are already dead. This is a devastating attack on the U.K. A thorough investigation is being made, though there has not been very much progress in identifying a suspect. I think this is terrible, and can’t believe that someone would do this. Several children were seriously injured, and one was killed. I simply dont understand why this happened… If whoever planted the bomb’s goal was to kill people, why did the put the bomb in an area with a less dense crowd? There were several areas that had more people in the area, where the bomb would have had a much higher casualty count – this leads me to believe that the bomb was placed simply to make a point.

The only thing that could come from this incident is a lot of pain and suffering, due to someone trying to make a political “point”. It baffles me that people would go out of their way to make and plant several bombs for what seems like no reason whatsoever. I really hope that the investigation is swift and that the government can find the person that planted these IED’s, and that he is punished accordingly. I honestly do not know what to say about this attack.
